Tony English’s broad area of research is the ways in which international managers and negotiators identify and define contextual influences on decision-making and other behaviour. His main project, funded originally by a Small ARC Grant, focuses on the strategies and tactics of outstanding negotiators in international business, diplomacy and other activities. The study is founded on ‘tension analysis’, a technique developed by Tony for defining and analysing management problems.
