Initial professional work in defence electronics, subsequently teaching in School of Applied Chemistry and Metallurgy of University of SA. Research Fellowship in operations research applied to traffic control. Various management positions over 10 years with an international automotive manufacturer and marketing firm, including computer systems, operations research, and engineering design and development.
Thirty years in Department of Premier and Cabinet and other core departments of SA government in senior positions, comprising consulting, project management, strategic planning, and senior administration throughout the public sector. Major fields and projects there included sustainable development strategic plans for SA, major economic developmental works, emergency services and national security, government radio network, human resources planning for SA information industries, courts automation, integration of human services delivery, communications and information technology, and adaptation of total quality management to novel areas.
Several years with an international management consulting and accounting firm. Recommenced teaching at Flinders University in 2001, extending subsequently also to University of Adelaide and Bradford College in a range of economics and marketing topics.
Active within the Australian Computer Society, serving on branch executive committee and national council for considerable periods. SA Branch Chairman, National Councillor.
